Your marks & your words
Two kinds of things happen on this site: marks you make for yourself, and words you choose to send. Here is exactly what happens to each.
Your marks stay on your device
Stars, reactions, topic takes, notes, lesson progress, your Ballot Notes — all of it is saved in your own browser, on your own phone or computer. It is never sent anywhere. We cannot see it; no one can. That also means clearing your browser can erase it — which is why My Journey offers print and download buttons, so the only copy that exists stays in your hands.
Where exactly, and how to keep it safe
- Where it lives: in this browser, on this device. Use a different phone, a different browser app, or a private/incognito tab, and your marks won’t be there — they never left the first one.
- What erases it: clearing browsing data, “free up space” cleaners, or deleting the browser. The site can’t restore it — we never had a copy.
- How to protect it: from My Journey, tap Download as text file (a dated copy in your Files app) or Print / save as PDF. Do it before Election Day, and again whenever your notes matter to you.
- One device, one journey: if you switch phones, download first and bring the file — your marks don’t follow accounts, because there are no accounts.
When you send something through a form
We receive exactly what you typed, and the time you sent it — nothing else. There are no accounts and no sign-ins on this site, so there is no name attached unless you choose to type one. Most forms here don’t even ask. A few — like volunteering — ask for contact optionally, only so a human can reply to you, and only if you fill it in.
Volunteers read what arrives, compile the themes, and publish only collective findings — never an individual message, never a name. Messages with contact details are deleted once they’ve been answered.
The honest footnote
Like every website on earth, the companies that carry internet traffic keep routine technical logs below anything we see or use. We don’t receive identity, we can’t trace an anonymous message to a person, and we don’t try. But absolute internet anonymity is something no website can truthfully promise — so we won’t. If something you want to share feels too sensitive even for that, the site’s lessons on whistleblowing and filing complaints point to official channels with legal protections.
Visit counting
We count page visits with GoatCounter, a privacy-focused counter — no cookies, no ad tracking, no profiles. It tells us how many, never who.

One exception collects an email: the optional mission-launch alert on the Missions page. It stores only the address you type, is used only to announce mission launches, is never shared, and any reply of “stop” removes it.
