What it is
Thousands of Navajo families are on the Navajo Housing Authority (NHA) waitlist for homes. The waitlist’s length and composition are not publicly published. Overcrowding is the documented result — multiple generations in one home, families living in structures without utilities. Housing came up in 34 of 42 candidate interviews.
The gap: The NHA waitlist is not published in a format citizens can read. No candidate stated the current waitlist number for their chapter.
