What the Interviews Said — corrected July 9, 2026
Correction — and a better question
This page first counted distinct question phrasings and reported that the same question was almost never asked twice. That measure was wrong. It counted strings, not questions. “What’s title two about?” and “Are you familiar with Title 2?” are two strings and one question.
An earlier version also reported more phrasings than exchanges in two areas — ranches and enterprises and education — which is impossible. A reader caught all of it.
The honest measure is not how many ways Cal asked. It is what each question asked for.
The method, in full (moved from the page July 14, 2026)

A 42nd candidate interview — Donovan Begay, presidential candidate — was found in the uploads and had never been merged into the archive. The earlier counts were computed across 41 interviews and could not be reproduced from the method as it was then described. Both problems are fixed. The table below is generated by a script, not typed, and the method below is that script’s actual configuration.
Method. N = 42 candidate interviews. For each area, a regular expression is matched against the candidate’s own speaking turns only (Cal’s questions are excluded, so a candidate is never credited for a subject merely because it was raised to them). An interview counts as substantive discussion at three or more matches — a proxy for engagement, not a passing mention. Keyword sets: economy / economic / business / entrepreneur / NBOA / Business Opportunity Act; executive branch / legislative branch / separation of powers / the Council / council delegate / presidential power or veto / branches of government; 638 / health care / hospital / clinic / IHS; education / school / college / scholarship; ranch / enterprise / NAPI / livestock / cattle; veteran; government reform / three-branch / constitutional reform / proposed constitution / Title 2 reform; grazing / homesite lease / land use plan / allotment / range unit.
These counts come from keyword matching against machine transcripts, not from a volunteer reading every answer. They are a starting point for research, not a finding. A different keyword set would produce different numbers, and that is why the set is printed here. How we verify →
The President, On the Record — corrected July 14, 2026
Three transcription errors, verified against the video
Three quotations were corrected after checking the machine transcript against the interview video: the President's first signature answer reads "a 50," not "a 15" (removing what had appeared to be an unexplained figure); and two of Cal Nez's remarks were corrected to "40 years myself" and "They're checks and balances with each other." The video is the pure source; every quote is verified against it. A reader-facing rule came out of this: any retelling of the interview should attach the President's confirmation to the $50 million contract only — never the $24 million grant.
