Council standing committees

The Navajo Nation Council does most of its work through committees. Four primary standing committees divide up the Nation’s business; a fifth, Naabik’íyáti’, is the committee of the whole. Where a candidate is a sitting delegate, their current committee is noted next to their name.


BFC

Budget & Finance Committee

Primary standing committee

Oversees the Nation’s financial system, investments, and the annual comprehensive budget.

HEHSC

Health, Education & Human Services Committee

Primary standing committee

Oversees healthcare, social services, veterans’ affairs, labor, and the Department of Diné Education.

RDC

Resources & Development Committee

Primary standing committee

Handles infrastructure, housing, land use, natural resources, agriculture, and economic development.

LOC

Law & Order Committee

Primary standing committee

Shapes public-safety law, reviews the Navajo Nation Code, and oversees the Division of Public Safety and judicial-branch programs.

Committee of the whole

The committee of the whole — all 24 delegates — handling broad resolutions and federal/state government relations. Chaired by the Speaker.
